Illustrator Patrick Wong Releases “Slippage” Limited Edition Screenprint

ward-winning illustrator Patrick Wong announces the upcoming release of his first limited edition screenprinted art piece entitled “Slippage”. The screenprint illustrates a group of four familiar faces mixed with four fictional characters in Patrick Wong’s signature brush and ink style.

The piece is the result of a drawing constraint that combined the image of a real person with one from fiction such as comics, movies, and video games. “Slippage” collects four of the most successful of these drawings to include: KRS One/Zombies, Bjork/Dr. Doom, J Dilla/Spawn, and Jay-Z/Venom. Beginning with around 20 drawings utilizing this system, Wong selected these four to combine together for the limited edition art print.

Regarding his process for creating the piece Wong stated “I was looking for unexpected collisions between the real and the fictional, but it was important for the elements I chose to be instantly recognizable to the viewer. Creating drawings through a method like this helps me to generate ideas and find interesting tensions in potential illustrations.”

“Slippage” will be available through Patrick’s webshop (http://patrickwong.bigcartel.com/) and the Hot Art Wet City Gallery beginning Dec. 4th, 2013 at 12:00 PM Pacific Standard Time. The piece measures 18″ x 24″ and is a 3 color print on acid-free 100# white cover stock. The prints are a signed/numbered edition of 45 and is priced at $50.
